Breast Implant Profiles and Why They Are Important
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. Craig Foster has routinely achieved excellent breast augmentation surgery results, carefully customizing all facets of the surgical procedure to the needs of his patients. Full customization and attention to the needs of his patients leads to breasts that are more appealing and look very natural.
While many patients think that the size of the implant is all that matters, there are actually many other factors to take into account. With this in mind, let's look at the issue of breast implant profile and why it is so important.
About Breast Implant Profile
Breast implant profile refers to the amount of forward projection that the breast implants have. The higher the profile, the more prominent the patient's bustline and/or cleavage.
Why Breast Implant Profile Matters
Breast implant profile is an important part of defining the final results of the breast augmentation procedure. While size has a major affect on the look of the final surgery, the profile of the breast implants can allow for a more natural and desirable look based on the needs of the patient and the patient's aesthetic goals.
Types of Breast Implant Profiles
There are four kinds of breast implant profiles:
- Moderate Profile Breast Implants - These are considered standard profile common to breast implants.
- High Profile Breast Implants - High profile breast implants have the most outward projection and create the most prominent cleavage.
- Low Profile Breast Implants - Low profile breast implants have the least amount of forward projection.
- Moderate Plus Profile Breast Implants - Moderate plus profile breast implants offer a little more projection than moderate profile implants but not as much as high profile implants.
Which breast implant profile would be best for me?
In general, low profile breast implants tend to be most ideal for patients who have a wider chest or body frame. Moderate profile and high profile breast implants tend to be better for women of average to narrower frames, respectively.
Keep in mind that the above does not take into account other factors that may come into play when determining an ideal treatment plan for a patient and the best breast implant profile for her needs. It's important to discuss these issues in greater detail during a consultation with your plastic surgeon.
Other Factors That Affect Breast Augmentation Results
In addition to breast implant profile and the size of the implant, it's also important to consider the placement of the breast implant relative to the chest muscle and mammary gland as well as the shape of the implant and its composition. These factors all have an affect on the final outcome of breast augmentation surgery.
